Oil on cardboard laid down on foam board, signed L/R “B. (Boris) Vassiloff” (1901-2000)
Vassiloff was a Russian Federation artist who trained at the Art Academy of Leningrad. As a young man, he traveled extensively throughout the far east and Europe, migrating to New York City before the Russian Revolution of 1917. His depictions of pre-revolutionary Russia as well as those from his extensive travels have been shown in many museum exhibitions and are found in numerous private collections.
His travels through the American West produced a series of paintings centered around the Grand Canyon. This painting, showing mountain flora, was done about 1945-50.
