The Dead Artists Gallery presents “Vue Les Invalides, Palais-Bourbon”

Sterne was an accomplished New York City artist who often utilized the Ashcan School technique. She studied at the Kaiserin Victoria Academy under Albert Pels (1910-1988), and was a member of the National Arts Club, as well as the Allied Artists of America.

This view of Les Invalides is situated within one of the great historic aristocratic neighborhoods of France, containing among other landmarks, the famed Faubourg Saint-Germain. Palais-Bourbon, as the arrondissment is known, boasts central government buildings, the Musée d’Orsay and Musée Rodin as well as other historical museums and societies. Les Invalides,specifically, is a compound which celebrates the military history of France. The dome pictured here is the final resting place of Napoleon Bonaparte, and countless other military icons.
