Studied with George Bridgeman, Paul Baudoin and Maurice Denis. First solo exhibition in Paris, 1931, where he received a metal from the French government. Member of the National Society of Mural Painters, the Brooklyn Society of Painters, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Society of Independent Artists. Although much of an individualist as an artist, Chanase certainly shows the influence of his contemporary Diego Rivera(1886-1957).
