The Dead Artists Gallery presents “Sunrise, Amalfi Coast”

Luminism… Late 19th century painting style emphasizing a unique clarity of light. In America, it was characteristic of the works of a group of independent American painters who were directly influenced by the Hudson River school of painting. Luminists’ works are almost always landscapes or seascapes, particularly the latter , and are distinguished by a smooth, slick finish; cold, clear colors; and meticulously detailed objects modeled by rays of light . These two paintings presented are from the English luminist school; The one,”Sunrise, Amalfi Coast”, was done by the British plein air artist William Waller in 1909. It is 13 x 29 in appropriate contemporary frame and is priced $850.The second,”Furled Sails, Sunset”, was painted by Greer Gerber, an English maritime impressionist, late 19th century.

It is presented in a 191/2 x 15 1/2 gold-treated English oak frame with stretcher dated 1888
