The Dead Artists Gallery presents “ Moonlight”


“Moonlight” O/Artist Board. Signed L/R “Bertram (George) Bruestle” (1906-1968). Spending his time between Lyme, Conn and NY City, NY, Bruestle displayed his intense love of nature greatly throughout his life. Greatly influenced by his father George, but was also exposed to the genius of Robert Vonnoh, Paul Dessar, George Bogart, and Emil Carlsen. Some of his earlier paintings were illustrations of medical neuro-anatomy for the Yale University School of Medicine. After his father died in 1939, Bertram took over his studio in Lyme and became active in the Lyme art association (Old Lyme Colony), serving as secretary and president. Many of his landscapes were painted in the vicinity of Lyme.
