The Dead Artists Gallery presents “ DeHaven ”


Another extremely collectible and investment quality painting from the American impressionistic giants: “Scene on the Housatonic, July 1890.” Oil on canvas signed L/R “DeHaven”( Benjamin Franklin , 1856-1934.). Student of George Henry Smillie (1840-1921), DeHaven was described as “ an intense Barbizon artist with a Tonalist sensibility.” Focusing on rural New England and Atlantic scenes, especially around East Hampton, Dehaven was a member of the national Academy of Design, the ANA 1902, the NA 1920, the Salmagundi Club 1899 and the National Arts Club among many other honors. Found in most major museums and private collections throughout America.
