O/Canvas
Signed L/R Stanley P. Koblenz
Sweet harmony between geometry and illumination. The ever-changing patterns of the surf playing out on the sand with the luminescent sunrise creates a thing of beauty indeed. We can thank the mid-century New Jersey marine artist Stanley P. Koblenz for this intriguing oil on canvas. The late impressionistic or neo- impressionistic style of painting devotes great attention to light effects and emphasizes tranquility, often incorporating reflective water and soft hazy sky. It was an unique American landscape painting style which began in the 1850s and persisted through the early 20th century.
28 x 40 in original frame circa 1940–50
