“El Flores”. Impossibly thick impasto defines this 1943 oil on canvas by the Cuban artist Portocarreo (Rene, 1912-1985.). So thick it might almost pass for a sculpture! This Havana artist noted for his colorful, abstract paintings and murals, was widely traveled and admired. His works are found in the permanent collections of innumerable museums as well as private placements throughout the art world. Signed and dated lower left, and enhanced by this turn of the century French frame 26 x 23.
