“Spring Birches” (“Winters Retreat”). Almost here… Almost. Despite the gray layered skies and the patch or two of snow, George R. Schneider (1927-?) captures the promise which springs eternal in the human heart… Better days ahead! As a landscapist, this plein air New York artist who summered in Vermont seems motivated by the same tonalist photographic-realism as Andrew Wyeth(1917-2009). One should view this painting as a cup half full rather than half empty. Oil on Masonite 20 x 24 in original painted wood frame circa 1950, signed lower left and bearing gallery ticket with inscription on verso.
$575.
