This mid-century Plein Air artist worked in the Taos and Santa Fe area as well. This piece appears to have been painted in early spring (see snowbanks along river’s edge) despite the artist’s title “Winter Wonderland” on verso. However, the leadened skies suggest that winter cannot yet be discounted. The color imparted to the mountains comes from shadows across the snow rather than the natural color of the cliffs.
27″ x 33″ in original frame.
$650
