Charming early 20th century view of Cairo Governorate across the Rosetta branch of the Nile. Cairo, “The Victorious”, capital of Egypt and one of the largest cities in Africa, has stood for more than a thousand years on this site. This was probably painted by a French artist in pre-war Cairo. He has chosen to place a felucca (traditional wooden sailing boat) in the foreground.
