Signed L/L “Emil Provost”
Two views “Foret pres de Lisieux”. Oil on wooden panels, 13 1/2 x 15 1/2, painted circa 1930 and both signed by Emil Provost. A member of the post WWI School of Paris, Provost successfully melded the colors of the Fauvists with the disparate points of paint employed by the Pointilists. The play of light and shadows diffusing the color achieved a very “new approach” to the French Impressionist landscape.
$975, the pair.
