Oil on Linen signed lower right “H. Wighil.” What a treat to present this large serene impressionist depiction of four mallards landing in a feeding field somewhere in coastal Virginia. Painted by the naturalist William Wighil in the manner of Bruce Crane (1857-1937), this painting was found in a grand Virginia home, along with its companion “Call of the Wild.” Now destined for another hunting lodge… somewhere. 31 1/2″ x 42″ in original bronzed frame circa 1920, $2500.
