The Dead Artists Gallery Presents “Scottish Fishing Fleet, off North Berwick”

Glorious! Best way to describe this 19th-century Scottish Luminist piece. ” Scottish Fishing Fleet, off North Berwick.” Painted about 1870 and presented in its original oil -gilt frame 22 x 17 1/2, $1250. Inscribed on canvas, verso, and signed lower left by the marine artist, Henry Armitage. Although Luminism is a distinctive American style of landscape painting, prominent from the 1850s to the 1870s, and characterized by its focus on the effect of light on atmosphere creating a sense of tranquility and contemplation, it was quickly picked up by artists across the world as a “ new approach for expression.” Incredible addition to any gallery wall or marine complex.
