The Dead Artists Gallery Presents “Solitary Figure with Two Skiffs”

That special day in February is quickly approaching. Whether or not this is a special gift for someone special or… A special piece for that special installation, it still holds a great deal of appeal for either. Featured in the Exhibition of Irish Art in Brussels, 1930, “Solitary Figure with Two Skiffs” this painting by Frances H. McKay(1880-1969) ushered in a new prolific painter from Belfast, who quickly became known for his paintings of river and coastal views from Donnegal, Conamara, and Antrim. McKay had his first one-man show in Dublin in 1937 and, compared to his contemporaries, his landscapes were less concerned with mood and feeling and more focused on describing the visual effects of the scene.
Along with William Conor and James Hubert Craig, he was considered one of Ulster’s most prominent painters and his West of Ireland views dominated the field of landscaping painting between the wars. Oil on canvas and presented in original oil-gilt frame 28 1/2 x 35 $875. This is most assuredly a painting for one of your Irish clients!
