The Dead Artists Gallery Presents “The Sandcastle”

“The Sandcastle.” Charming mid-century oil on hardboard by the Virginia/New York impressionist Anne S.V. Mann signed and dated right lower corner “1950.” Mann employed the painting technique that uses small dots of color to create an image. This technique, known as” pointillism”, is based on the idea that the human eye will blend the dots together to create a solid color when viewed from a distance. Earlier well-known artists who painted in the style include Georges Seurat (1859-1891) and Paul Signac (1863-1935.). Presented in its original pleached wormy chestnut frame 30 x 33, $750.
