I am in awe whenever I see a still life like this. Simple depiction of three pieces woven wooden containers… But the skill to bring these pieces to life is awesome. I admit that I love artists who have perfected color palettes, but the skill required to create an image, totally recognizable, is special indeed! Notice the gradations of light for the metal part of the handle, the light streaming through the cracks in the basket and containers, the shadows,… Everything which makes this mid-century New Jersey Realist a cut above with his skill set. Oil on artist board, Signed lower left “Sheinfeld” and housed in its original period carved- wood frame 17 x 21 circa 1960–70, $425.
