Hacker was a British painter of harbors and landscapes. A founding member of the New English Art Club, a counterpart of the Royal British Academy, of which he was also a member. This landscape was most likely painted on one of his many trips abroad, during which he explored Spain, Tangiers, Gibraltar and the Low Countries.
Hacker’s paintings hang at the Tate and Royal Academy of Arts, London, Brighton & Hove Museums, Manchester City Art Gallery and the Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum.
