The Dead Artists Gallery presents “Young Woman, Plaster Head”
Romantic woman’s head. Signed with initials and dated 1896 L/R. This lovely study is from a prominent Charleston, SC estate. In order to make a plaster like this, a clay model is made from a drawing or model. The clay was then framed and packed in sand, which was then tamped with a mallet. The resulting pack-sand negative was used as the mold, which would result in a plaster positive identical to the original clay model.
