The Dead Artists Gallery presents “Steel Trader”
Oil on artist board. Signed L/R with monogram and dated July 4th, 1928 and inscribed Rabul, New Guinea. The Steel Trader was a steel hulled sailing vessel commissioned in 1916 and plied the Indian Ocean until WWII when joined it the Merchant Marines. It then passed hands several times until finding itself in the hands of a German company for final salvage.
