The Dead Artists Gallery presents “Approaching Rider”

O/Canvas

Signed w/ unique initials and dated L/R “TB, ’79” (Thomas Blinks, 1860-1912)

This equestrian painting by the English artist Blinks was completed in his 19th year. The drayage horses in the foreground are definitely alert to the approaching rider. Blinks has a very good auction record and is well known for his depiction of animals. Although the horses appear foreground, with acutely blended shading strokes that perfectly capture the haunches of these powerful animals, the painting also demonstrates Blinks’ skill in landscape. The texture of the trees contrasts brilliantly against the glassy surface of the water.

 21″ x 31″ in original gilt frame
