The Dead Artists Gallery Presents “Shepherdess and Her Flock”

Watercolor Heliogravure sheep impressionist piece done in 1904. Pencil-signed by the artist lower right. Frederick Kappstein (1869-1933) was an animal and still life painter/graphic artist from Berlin who studied at the Academy of Arts in Berlin with Paul Frederick Myerheim. He was additionally influenced by his friend Karl Hagemeister. He taught lithography at the Royal Technical School in Charlottenberg and his handbook of Artistic Lithography appeared in 1910. Awarded a gold medal in the Great Berlin Art Exhibition of 1904, he was known for his artistic renditions of animals. 21″ x 17″ in period painted and gilded frame, $675.
