The Dead Artists Gallery presents “Summer Garden”

Acrylic on board.  Signed L/R “Elvin Mauk” (Elvin Dean Mauk) ,(1929-2006), c.1960. Dean was an Illinois artist who was mostly self taught. Through his local art club he met an art professor from the University of Illinois, and was encouraged to join shows and exhibitions. Eventually finding modest success, Mauk never found mainstream representation and died in 2006 before he could do so. Most of his works are abstractions of garden scenes or city scapes, usually imagined.
