A prominent Irish poet, playwright and novelist whose portrait by Sir Joshua Reynolds hangs in the National Portrait Gallery in DC. Most likely painted an art student in the Royal Academy of which Joshua Reynolds was the first president. Copying paintings by masters was considered a major pedagogical tool for young artists.
